God, the Father of love and source of all life and unity,
You are always present to us just as we are.
Throughout this Year of the Eucharist,
we pray that You strengthen the faith
of Your beloved people.
Grant us a renewed sense of Your Son’s presence
in the consecrated bread and wine at Mass
which becomes His Body and His Blood,
and through our Holy Communion with Christ,
may we become what we receive.
May we be Jesus’ hands and feet and body
through which You bless the world. Amen.
The Eucharistic meal is meant to be a microcosmic event, summarizing at one table what is true in the whole macrocosm: we are one, we are equal in dignity, we all eat of the same divine food, and Jesus still and always “eats with sinners.”
