In modern times, as we are spiritually renewed during the 40 days of Lent, we have the privilege of uniting ourselves with Jesus by fasting and praying along with him.
We, too, can use this holy time to be mindful of those in need.
Our Lenten outreach can play an important role in one’s spiritual observations as well because it is a special opportunity to join with Christ, embrace self-denial, AND extend a gift of mercy to those in desperate need.
This Lent, it is our desire to keep our almsgiving efforts very local and so we will join our efforts to those of the First Baptist Church of Madison and the Chatham United Methodist Church. Our donations will help to stock the shelves at the First Baptist Church of Madison's Food Pantry and the Chatham United Methodist Church's Food Pantry.
First Baptist Church is located in north Jersey in the small college community of Madison. The Church has stood on Cook Avenue for 121 years and has a rich history in the Madison community.
The Food Pantry is open on Saturday from 9 am - 1 pm. All are welcome. Non-perishable foods only if you would like to drop off at the Church. Otherwise, a monetary donation helps to purchase additional foods and fresh food products. See below to donate.
Items may be dropped off at the Brown Center which is next door to the Church.
CUMC Food Pantry has a CRITICAL current urgent need for: pasta, all canned protein (chicken, tuna, fish, pork, etc), boxes of breakfast cereal, baking mixes, dried and canned beans (not green beans), baby wipes & diaper cream, and personal care items.
Items can be dropped off at the food pantry at the rear of the parking lot 24/7. 460 Main Street, Chatham.
